Akiko Watanabe serves as the Director of the Clinical Pharmacology Department at Daiichi Sankyo Co. Ltd. In this role, I have been involved in the planning of clinical trials and the support of regulatory submissions utilizing PBPK models regarding mainly DDI, absorption and special populations. With a wealth of experience, I have successfully developed and submitted PBPK models for multiple drug applications to regulatory authorities.

Before taking on this position, I worked as a researcher in non-clinical pharmacokinetics, where I conducted extensive research contributing to the understanding of drug ADME properties.

I hold both a Bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Science from The University of Tokyo.
